svar: Hi Rebe, You don't have to build anything to get started with Code Rocket - all of the electronic circuits are built in. Setting up the coding software takes 5-15 minutes. After that, each of the 21 coding projects will take anywhere from 30 to 60 minutes, depending on how much you want to tinker and experiment with the code. -

svar: Hi, the software can be downloaded to each user's device. It's completely free and doesn't require any kind of login, email, or username. The software is compatible with Chromebook, Windows, and Mac computers. One thing to be aware of (and make your patrons aware of) is that Google has introduced a 'device management program' called Family Link. It's becoming more popular when a child has their own Chromebook, but Chromebooks 'enrolled' in Family Link cannot use the Let's Start Coding software, because Family Link blocks all Chrome extensions.
Let's Start Coding Editorial Review
The Code Car Kids Coding Toy is an excellent toy for children aged 8-12 who are interested in coding. It comes with 20 online projects that enable children to learn block and typed coding through hands-on electronics. The Code Car is powered by a USB cable, which can be plugged into a computer or any 5-volt USB power source, making it easy to use. It is compatible with Windows, Mac, and Chromebook, and there is also a free Chrome extension that can be installed to program the Code Car from the website. The product is small, measuring about 4 inches long and 2 inches tall, and it is designed to be handheld. Each project takes around an hour to complete, and they include coding the LED lights to fade up and down like a siren and creating a horn that you can honk by pressing a button.
