The binoculars are a bit heavier than expected, but their sturdiness makes them feel like they'll last a while. At 10x magnification, the Pentax binoculars are challenging to hold still without bracing them against something. Unfortunately, the tripod mount cap on the front doesn't seem to detach easily, though this wasn't an issue for the reviewer. One disgruntled customer received Pentax's 10x50 binoculars instead of the 8x40, which they admitted to not checking before their trip to Yellowstone National Park, where they discovered problems adjusting the inter-pupillary distance. The left-side housing had partially separated in the middle and was loose, which cut their trip short. Another negative review claimed the same issue, that the left lens housing had broken off in their hand after two months of limited use. However, most reviews mention clear and sharp imaging as well as easy-to-use controls.
