svar: Your coffee will taste its best if washed after every use! No metallic taste or rustic tinge to palette with coffee with this! Iv had mine few yrs now. Still going strong -

svar: Not sure what food grade is, but its sturdy and good quality -

svar: There does not appear to be any plastic inside. There is a soft wire mesh and I don't think this would contain any form of plastic. In any case, to the naked eye, it doesn't. -

svar: Mine wasn't. It's was boxed, nicely, but not exactly a presentation box. Think John Lewis quality though, very good. I've had mine over 6 months now and very very happy. -

svar: No, the lid does not lock on for pouring and turning to close. You just press the lid and plunger down and it firmly fits in place and just pull it up to open. -

Where is this Von Chef product manufactured?
svar: Is THAT really so important? You would probably like to buy British - this isn't - but we gave up so much manufacturing because other countries could do it cheaper and often better! It's only a cafetiere - get over it. -

Can you buy replacement filters?
svar: I think you may be confused. There are no filters. This is a cafetiere in which one puts ground coffee, leaves for three mins, then carefully pushes down the plunger. The plunger pushes down the grounds to the bottom, then one can pour out a full mug of coffee. To use whole roasted beans, a grinder is needed to first grind up the beans before putting them in the cafetiere. There is no way to use a filter, as the plunger itself forces the grounds down to the bottom.
